MTFL INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

The League's 'Weather Policy' relates to threats of severe weather surrounding the immediate playing field.

It is up to the Head Referee to decide to postpone a game if weather conditions are unsafe. If lightning is in the area, the Head Referee is to consider delaying the game until lightning has moved off, and is safe to continue.

Furthermore, the following guidelines should be used:
• Single Game (unlit field): The start time of 7:00 pm can be delayed until
7:30 pm and have time re-adjusted to a one-hour game format (four 15-minute quarters) OR if actual daylight conditions permit, the use of four 18 minute quarters without a half-time may also be used to execute the game.

• Double Headers (lit field): The game officials could wait as late as 8:00 pm and still get in two one-hour games. If at 8:00 pm, the conditions are unsafe, then the first game is postponed to a later date, and they can wait as long as 9:15 pm to start the second game.
Although teams are expected to wait out the unfavourable weather conditions, officials should use their judgment to determine whether safe conditions for the game are likely to exist throughout the time frame of revised game.

Real-time observation and use of current weather reports should assist in determining whether to play the game or postpone it to another date.
The officiating crew is expected to remain on site through the original start time of both games in order to communicate its decision to all teams.

In the case where weather causes the Head Official to suspend play, it is at the Head Officials sole discretion as to whether the game continues.
For a game to be considered official, the 3rd quarter must have started and the first play from scrimmage must have been completed.

Couple of Important Info for those that Officiate MTFL Games,

Officials are to take one photo of each completed game sheet at the end of the game and send it to mtfl_mississauga@yahoo.ca. Officials should encourage the Captains to do the same. This is in addition to collecting game sheets at half time and sending them off.

Officials are to email dougrr4@gmail.com the scores of each game.

Home teams are to call the coin toss unless they are responsible for delay of game.

For those working MTFL Games. Couple of things of note....

1. Officials should check prior to the game that teams have their goal post pads up. It is the teams responsibility to ensure that the pads are up. Officials to enforce.

2. HOME teams are to call the coin toss of heads or tails. If you are the referee, please check Arbiter prior to the game to ensure you know who the home team is. This way, you know which team is to call the TOSS.

3. When there is a default or postponement/cancellation due to weather or field conditions, MTFL would like the following:
a) record that teams had or did not have:
i) goal post pads
ii) at least 5 players
b) team game sheet/roster.
Record these on the game sheets and submit them to MTFL along with your report to Doug/MTFL executive.

Hello all, please keep in mind that ARBITER has updated VENUE and FIELD Locations of our games. If you have a game, please double check the FIELD you are supposed to be at. We have had a few instances whereby our officials are going to the wrong field. The example we have is Gordon Graydon and Glenforest for the MTFL games. Please use the address(es) on Arbiter as it will take you to the correct field. Gordon Graydon HS has been renamed Glenforest South but for our purposes, it is still in the same location. Nothing has changed for us. The location is still on Ogden avenue. Glenforest HS is still on Fieldgate.

Thank you,
